Welcome to the first Tell Me About It: A Biz Babe Interview Series of 2018! This month we are hearing from Abbe Findley, Founder + Owner of Zizia, which is a badass project in LA connecting communities with botanical magic.
This series is meant to be an inside look at other babes who are leading incredible lives, to serve as a source of information and inspiration for you to live your dream life! Let’s get after it!
What’s your company / job / “who” you work as?
Owner/founder of Zizia
Your career purpose, in three words:
Keep it real
What are you most excited about right now?
Seeing my vision start to coagulate after years of really hard work. Opening the Cypress Park Herb Clinic/Shop, launching the new ZB website/shop, planning more Skid Row free clinics for 2018, and launching the Herbal Medicine Video Database (coming soon!).
What were some of the biggest obstacles you faced in the past year?
Figuring out financially how to continue offering free and low income herbal services, stick to my vision, and provide for myself.
List the top habits that keep you feeling like you can take on the world:
Running, drinking nettle infusions, eating right, learning, being around people that are positive and supportive.
Any words of encouragement for someone trying to forge their own path?
Stick to your vision, yourself, and why you have chosen to do what you do. Once this is in place, you will have it to return to time and time again. There will be both good days and bad days, but just remember this, and keep going!
It’s time to dance, and you’re the DJ. What music are you playing?
Missy Elliott, Cardi B, Curtis Mayfield, classical radio 91.5, John Coltrane
If I could collab with anyone right now, it would be…
nurses and doctors.
When I need to hit the “reset” button on my life, I…
go to the desert or the mountains.
I can’t start my day without…
a quart of water and coffee with whole milk.
I feel the most alive when I…
am out wildcrafting medicinal plants to use in my herb practice.
And lastly: what’s your biggest win this month? Brag about yourself!
This month I launched my new website/shop with an intention to be more open about what I do and to start owning it. It has felt so nice receiving all the support and sweet messages people have sent my way in regard to the work I do here in L.A. Thank you!
